Emotion Cards – Resources for Additional Activity

If you have used the emotions cards to identify emotions which the child wishes to feel more of then this is a follow up activity.  This next activity can get them thinking more actively about what they already do that makes them feel this way and what else they can add to this to increase how often they feel it. This is a powerful way of helping children to take more accountability for their mind set.

Even in the most difficult circumstances there will be small actions that a child can take which will have a positive impact on them. It might be that they feel calmer when they stroke their dog or happier when they play with their sibling. Just by supporting them to recognise this it increases their focus and makes them more likely to do it.

It’s really simple. The cards have just been moved onto single sheets of A4 so that there is space to write the child’s ideas around the edge. This works best if they do the work so don’t jump in to help too quickly!
